An effective password policy is a must for any system these days and the Tillo Hub is no different.

We have rules in place to ensure that passwords you create and use meet our security requirements based on best practice recommendations. These rules are often updated but currently they are:

Passwords must be:

  • At least 10 characters in length

  • Contain at least 1 uppercase character

  • Contain at least 1 lowercase character

  • Contain at least 1 symbol (e.g @$%)

  • Contain at least 1 number

When creating a password in the Hub, if what you enter does not meet these rules then it will not be accepted and you will be prompted to change your entry.

Additional to the rules above, all passwords will expire every 90 days.

What is a good password?

However these rules above are minimum requirements so always try and make your password stronger. Creating a good password is so important these days and here are some tips to help you.

  • Always contain a mixture of upper and lowercase alphabetic characters.

  • Make sure you include at least 1 numeric character.

  • Add at least 1 special character such as punctuation mark.

  • And for the advanced use, you can try a random password generator.

  • Go for nonsense phrases or combinations of words make good passwords.

  • Consider using a password management tool - these allow you to generate and store passwords securely.

  • swapping certain letters for characters e.g. a for @, e for 3 is common and easy to hack

What is a bad password?

Not an exhaustive list by any means but here are a few tips to avoid when creating a password:

  • Using the same password on multiple sites

  • Avoid repeating characters e.g 111, aaa

  • Avoid sequences e.g 123, abc

  • Swapping certain letters for characters e.g. a for @, e for 3 is common and easy to hack

  • Anything that can be easily related to yourself. e.g date of birth, name of spouse

  • "P@ssword123" is bad as is "L3tme1n"

How do I change my password?

If you have forgotten your password you can choose the "I've forgotten my password" link on the login page:
